Week 9 Term 3 2023
Dear Parents and Caregivers
What an enormous two weeks we have leading to the end of the term.
On Thursday we have our school concert, “Dances Through the Decades”. The children have been practising their parts for many weeks. Groundforce has been working with each class on dance moves for a particular song from a particular decade. The program is accompanying this newsletter. Some of our teachers have been working with the band, the singing club, the vocal hub and the St Francis Tappers as well as our Comperes to bring a wonderful program together. Please be mindful of the times that your children need to be with their class teachers and listen for instructions on the night regarding collecting your children afterwards.
Our two Pupil Free Days following the concert are because the Montevergine Festa is using our school grounds on the weekend. We have kept most setting up outside of school days, but they require Friday for their final set up, and then Monday to remove everything. During Friday and Monday the school is like a building site with cranes, trucks and people everywhere. As a matter of safety our school cannot be utilised during these times. On Friday our staff will be attending a Retreat off site and on Monday they have a professional learning day. Unfortunately, this means that OSHC is also not available as the site will not be safe for children. It has come to my attention that this was not communicated earlier in the year when it should have been. Angela Morrison and I are extremely sorry that this has unfolded the way it has, but it is out of our hands.
On Thursday of next week, the last Thursday of the term, we have our annual Sports Day. All are welcome to come and watch their children participate. Whilst there will be some food available on the day for adults, you might like to consider bringing a picnic with you. The last thing you want is to be on the end of a queue rather than watching your children run the race of their lives!
Angela Morrison concludes her time as Acting Principal on Friday 29 September, the last day of term. Angela will be in the school this Thursday and attending the concert on Thursday night, as well as the last day of term. You might like to take the opportunity to say your farewells on those days. On behalf of Catholic Education SA, I thank Angela for her dedicated service to the school community in what has been an uncertain time of transition.
Peace and blessings
Kerri Dent
